Take Action on: Flexible Work Options
The COVID-19 pandemic led to a tremendous change in the day-to-day working lives of Albertans, with employers having to be flexible on how, when and where their employees were working – often remotely. A lot of employees embraced that flexibility, and recent studies have shown a preference from employees for greater flexibility in their work options. For example, a 2021 study conducted by Adobe found that a majority of employees of all generations surveyed would be willing to switch jobs – assuming salary and job description remained the same – for better work-life balance. Additionally, 73% of Millennials surveyed would be willing to move to a new job if it gave them more control over their work schedule, with 66% of Gen Z also stating that preference. The option to work remotely also polled strongly in the study.
If flexible work options are a possibility for your organization, check out our Action Card – Offer Flexible Work Options for guidance on how to go about exploring your options, which range from flexible working hours to self-scheduling.
